Psalm 23:3
Over the last couple of posts, we have seen God being described as a shepherd. This is a unique name compared to what we might use to describe God. Now, if we describe God as the Creator, Provider, or Protector these are not sinful or wrong names. But the name, “shepherd” gives a more intimate connection between man and God.
The Shepherd leads us to green pastures and still waters. But the big question is, “Why is He doing all of this?” “What is the point?” Well, we see this in Psalm 23:3. God is doing all of this for His glory. “He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” God wants us to worship Him, exalt Him, praise Him, and to be the only thing we want in life. We need to examine our own lives to see if we are truly wanting God and only God.
God is doing all of this because He loves us. We see this when God sent His only Son to die for our sins. God does not just provide for us because He is able to, it is because He loves us.
